This high-quality program is

  • taught entirely in French,
  • supervised by professional coaches,
  • organized by age groups

and takes place on Saturdays from 12:15pm to 1:45pm.

Students are then directly brought to their classes, i.e. parents do not need to be present between the Sports and French classes.

Students are encouraged to bring snacks and a water bottle. There is a 15-minute break between the Sports Classes and the French Classes.

We have set up the sports programs to reach several objectives for our students:

  • Participate in a fun and interesting activity
  • Function in French within their peer group (like children in a francophone country would)
  • Improve their vocabulary in French
  • Learn sports skills with qualified coaches
  • Make weekly organization and logistics easier

There are currently two programs, soccer and basketball:

Soccer will start on Saturday, November 8. Basketball will follow as soon as possible.

The goals set for the coaches are to provide high-quality programs and to prepare a later participation in local leagues for those who are interested.

  • The basketball program is led by a former first-league player from France.
  • The soccer program is led by a former assistant coach of the Cameroon National Team.

Each program will take place from 12:15pm to 1:45pm (1.5 hours) on Saturdays when the school is in session. Students are in different co-ed age groups.

Each session is entirely taught in French and comprises the following elements:

  • Know your sport and its history
  • Tactics and technical skills
  • Practice and play

Classes are organized by age group and ability.
The planned age distribution will be as follows:
Group I : Grades K to 2/3
Group II : Grades 3/4 to 6/7
Group III: Grades 6/7 to 9

There will be a small, once-a-year materials contribution (including a team t-shirt and/or recommended ball) after the first few sessions.

Students are expected to come dressed for sports and bring their own ball.

Basketball and soccer take place throughout the school year.
The basketball classes will take place indoors.
The soccer classes will take place indoors when too cold outside and outdoors and outdoors when the weather allows (foresee warm and long underwear when it's a bit fresh!).
